This Easter will be unlike any we have ever experienced, but Aussies can still enjoy a traditional Easter spread says Seafood Industry Australia CEO Jane Lovell.
“These are unprecedented times, but it doesn’t mean we need to abandon tradition,” Ms Lovell said.
“In fact, celebrating can help make things feel a little more normal, and what’s more normal than seafood and Easter?
“The closure of eat-in foodservice venues and the disruption of the export market has seen lots of beautiful Aussie seafood available to retail markets. There’s lobster, crabs, prawns – we have the best of everything
“It’s a wonderful time to grab some Australian prawns, or farmed Australian Barramundi. You can ask at the Woolworths seafood counter for frozen Barramundi fillets, or a 3-5kg box of frozen prawns which can be popped straight in your freezer and used when you need them.
“People should get in touch with their local fishmonger or the seafood counter at their supermarket as many are organising preorders with contactless over-the-phone payment, while several independent retailers are providing a free home delivery service.
“Fresh Aussie seafood has become one of the biggest highlights of Easter and there is no need to abandon this tradition while we maintain the recommended social distancing.
“Buying Aussie seafood this Easter will support your Aussie fishers who’ve been doing it rough over the past few months and give the industry a much needed boost.”
