Our Priorities
Our Priorities
SIA is committed to protecting, promoting and developing the Australian seafood industry domestically and overseas. To do this effectively, we must address the many and varied challenges facing the industry.
At the inaugural SIA Members Advisory Forum held in September 2017 industry national issues were discussed, and it was agreed SIA would focus our attention on the the most pressing national issues. Over time, these issues have grown into the following:
- Biosecurity
- Community perception/social licence
- Country of origin labelling in foodservice
- Labour and Training
- Maintaining the Fuel Tax Credit Scheme
- Market Access & Trade
- Mental health
- Oil and gas exploration – seismic
- Resource allocation and access
- Safety
Today, these areas are our key priority areas guiding our activities and advocacy work. You can view a list of our position papers and submissions, here.
Critical to the success of SIA is our ability to identify issues of national significance and prioritise the issues of greatest importance to our industry.
