SIA appoints Aquaculture Policy and Project Officer, Julie Petty

Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Petty to the position of Aquaculture Policy and Project Officer. A position designed to underpin the sector’s strategic growth, strengthen the representation of aquaculture on a national level, and support the newly appointed Aquaculture Advisory Committee

An introduction to Julie

Julie has more than 14 years’ project management experience working in Australian agriculture, predominately in horticulture and red meat.

Her career path has given her the opportunity to work across several areas including animal traceability technologies, industry strategic planning and development, project management, communications and event organisation.

Julie has on the ground experience with practical research, development and extension (RDE) theory from her work with the Australian goatmeat industry and Meat and Livestock Australia where she managed the goat RDE program.

“I’m looking forward to learning all about the Australia seafood industry. I really enjoy a challenge, problem solving and building industry support networks,” she said.

Julie joins the SIA team following a six-month contract with the Woolworths Group as their Protein Squad Project Manager, assisting with traceability initiatives. Julie holds a Bachelor of Agribusiness at the University of Queensland, and has worked with Growcom as the Pineapple and Apple Industry Development Officer, and Avocados Australia Limited in a Program Manager position.

This is an exciting development and we look forward getting the AAC Action Plan moving.

Julie can be contacted on [email protected] or via mobile on 0438 165 218.
