Set your heart on seafood for good health

Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), the national peak body representing the Australian seafood industry, has welcomed today’s confirmation from the Heart Foundation that seafood gets the health tick.

“While this isn’t news to many of us, it is great that today the Heart Foundation has confirmed the need for fish and seafood in a healthy diet,” SIA CEO Jane Lovell said.

“The Heart Foundation has refined its position on a number of food types – but seafood continues to be one of the healthiest sources of protein and with such a variety of seafood available the options are huge.

“Of course, our advice is to go for the freshest local seafood available and to always ask for Aussie seafood. That way you are maximising the health benefits and supporting local fishers and aquaculturalists.

“Making seafood a regular part of your diet is an easy, not to mention delicious, way to look after your heart, so don’t wait for the warmer months – start adding seafood chowder or curries to your winter menu!

“The Australian seafood industry is committed to putting great local seafood on tables locally and across the world for generations to come.

“We are also committed to looking for more and more innovative ways to harvest, prepare and present seafood to the community.”

“Choose Aussie seafood – regularly!”
