Our Priorities

SIA are committed to protecting, promoting and developing the Australian seafood industry domestically and overseas. To do this effectively, we must address  the many and varied challenges facing the industry. At the inaugural SIA Members Advisory Forum held in September 2017 industry issues were discussed, and it was agreed the most pressing national issues were: 

 Over the following months these issues were combined with further member and stakeholder feedback, and we added two issues to our priority list:

Today these areas make up our eight key priorities which guide our activities, our lobbying, and our advocacy work. 

Critical to the success of SIA is our ability to identify issues of national significance and prioritise the issues of greatest importance to our industry. In June 2019, the Board further refined the targets for SIA’s focus for the immediate future to:
